From one cloud to another
"From one cloud to another I came looking for rain. I found a forever instead."
On Sunday, September 13, 2026, Uche and Ali were married at Silvertip Resort in Canmore, with the Rockies all around them. They wanted their day to feel intimate but fun. That meant 80 to 90 of their closest people, portraits with water and mountains behind them, and a reception full of costume changes that kept everyone on their feet. Planned by Morgan Huzar of Lynn Fletcher Weddings, the day was warm, stylish and full of joy. We were honoured to capture their wedding.
Getting ready + details
Uche got ready at The Malcolm Hotel in Canmore, and Ali and his guys suited up in crisp white shirts, bow ties and plenty of swagger. Ali's outfits through the day were by Deji & Kola.
The ceremony at the Gazebo
The Gazebo at Silvertip Resort is one of the best ceremony spots in the Canadian Rockies. LUXE Wedding Decor framed it in lush white florals, and the aisle looked straight out to the peaks. One reserved chair was set aside in memory of a loved one, so they were part of the day too. Jamie Niven officiated, and Uche and Ali said their vows surrounded by family and friends.
Portraits
Uche and Ali asked for portraits in unique places, especially with water and mountains in the background, and Silvertip delivered: still ponds, golden grass, and big moody skies over the peaks. As a Canmore and Banff wedding photographer, these are the moments I live for.
Reception in the Pavilion
Inside the Pavilion, LUXE Wedding Decor's long tables and tall centrepieces set the scene. Then the party took over. The costume changes landed, the dance floor filled, and Slim Tyme Production kept it going until the last song, with a dance in the clouds included. Sweets came from Butter Love Sugar, and the Pure Portrait photo booth kept guests laughing all night.
The engagement session: Hasselblad film + digital
Before the wedding, we spent an evening together for Uche and Ali's engagement session, with a classic Porsche 356 from Porsche 356 Props and the city skyline behind them. I would never replace digital with film or film with digital. They both belong in your gallery. So alongside digital, I brought my Hasselblad 500CM. Here's a look through the waist-level viewfinder and the film frame it became, shot on film and developed by Rocky Mountains Film. As a film wedding photographer, these frames are some of my favourites. "Truly, madly, deeply."
