Mikayla + Erik
Mikayla found me through word of mouth, and we finally met in person at a wedding fair. She knew right away she wanted a mountain wedding, because the mountains are her happy place. The Post Hotel & Spa in Lake Louise was the perfect home for it. On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, she and Erik had an intimate, family-only wedding there. The ceremony was at 1 PM in the hotel library, and their wedding party and officiant were all family. Afterwards we headed into the Rockies for some of my favourite fall light of the year. Mikayla and Erik, thank you for trusting me with your Post Hotel wedding! As a Banff wedding photographer, Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway are some of my favourite places to work.
Getting ready at the Post Hotel
Mikayla got ready in the Watson House and Erik in the Pipestone cabin, both on the Post Hotel property. Julia Joy did hair and makeup, and the morning was full of laughs. The log walls and chandeliers made every corner glow. Mikayla and her mom planned the whole day together, and the details showed it: lots of DIY touches, soft blue ribbon, a wax-sealed invitation, rings from The Goldsmiths, and a pair of heart sunglasses that came back out later on the dance floor.
A ceremony in the Post Hotel library
The ceremony was in the Post Hotel library: timber beams, the stone hearth, and greenery from Fleurish along the mantle. Erik's brother played piano for the processional and Mikayla's aunt officiated. A few tears were happening on both sides of the aisle before the rings went on and they walked back down it with their arms in the air.
Wedding party
Mikayla's bridesmaids in dusty blue and Erik's crew in grey and charcoal, all family, out among the fall colours around Lake Louise. Easy, fun, and a little goofy.
Bow Lake and Peyto Lake portraits
To skip the crowds at the lakeshore, we took a short drive up the Icefields Parkway from Lake Louise. At Bow Lake we got glassy reflections and wind catching Mikayla's veil and her Blush and Raven gown. Then we finished at Peyto Lake, its turquoise water below us and dark clouds rolling in. It's one of my favourite portraits of the year.
Reception at the Post Hotel
Back at the Post Hotel, Fleurish greenery and candles lined the banquet hall's stone wall, and dinner was served there with a cake from the hotel and DIY favours and gifts for everyone. The speeches had Mikayla in happy tears. The first dance ended with a twirl. Then Mikayla's brother-in-law took over as DJ and the dance floor (and those heart sunglasses) ran the rest of the night.

Shot on Film: Hasselblad 120 Kodak Portra and 35mm Kodacolor
Alongside digital, I shot Mikayla and Erik's Lake Louise wedding on film, with medium format 120 Kodak Portra through my Hasselblad 503CX and 35mm Kodak Kodacolor. Film wedding photography gives skin tones and mountain light a softness digital can't quite match, and it's a big part of how I work as a Banff wedding photographer. 120 scans by C41 Film Labs.
