Lake Minnewanka is the biggest lake in Banff National Park, and standing on its shore feels like having the whole valley to yourselves. It's a beautiful place for an elopement. The mountains rise straight out of the water, the wind brings in a little drama, and the shoreline gives you endless room to wander. We like to keep a Minnewanka elopement simple and unhurried: a few heartfelt words, some time to soak it in, and then a slow walk where we capture the hugs, the laughter and the quiet looks in between. The weather in the park can change in minutes, and some of our favourite frames have come from clouds rolling over the peaks just as the vows begin. As a Calgary wedding photographer, we're out in Banff often, and Minnewanka is always one of the spots we recommend to couples who want something wild but easy to reach. Dreaming of a mountain elopement? See our Banff wedding photographer page for more locations, permits and timing ideas.
